The concept of making friends
The time has come for me to come back to my second home. I mean that very figuratively because for the past two years my second home was my apartment, which I let go of and got in exchange a room at Maison d'Île de France at the Cité Internationale Universitaire.
Moving was not very fun but that's okay, because I had all my lovely friends with me. These times always make me think about how lucky I am to have such lovely, helpful, amazing people that not only surround me and give me awesome moments of laughter and conversation, but care enough about me to help me do annoying things like moving. The first time I had a similar thought was when I was 17 and going through a break up. All my friends were right by my side, spending time hearing me repeatedly talk about the same things and go over the reasons as to why I was so sad. I love my friends. I am very blessed.
I also love having new friends, which is why I think I'm going to have a great time at CIUP. The atmosphere here is very welcoming, everyone speaks to each other and though I haven't yet made any friends, everything just feels friendly. It's a change of pace from every new place I have been to in France. Everyone is always a little bit skeptical of the person in front of them, and it almost always feels like you have to prove your worth for the person in front of you to actually start being friends with you. I do say "feels like" because I also think that might be a fabrication from my anxiety. It has gotten better over the years ; maybe I have matured and grown enough to put aside my desire to be liked by all, and thus this fear of proving my worth has disappeared. Also, I don't put myself above this : I definitely like particular types of people more than others, and when I meet new people I am clearly seeing if I would see myself around them on the long run ; maybe in other words that's just me testing their worth before deciding I want to be friends with them.
Anyways I love my friends. Adiós Sabubu te voy a extrañar.
